A 3D image of her at 27 weeks. We paid for this ultrasound ourselves. | A 2D image of her at 24 weeks. This was taken at the Naval Hospital in Oak Harbor, Wa. |
(8/12/03) Although we just had an ultrasound done three weeks ago at the Naval Hospital, we decided to pay for our own ultrasound -- this time using the latest 3D/4D technology -- so that we could find out for sure if she is a girl and to see her more clearly. As soon as the 3D technician put the wand on my belly she said, "It's definitely a girl." With the other ultrasound machine it was hard to tell. That technician was only 80% sure (she was just guessing since she didn't see any boy parts).
We drove down to BabyPictures in Bellevue, Wa., which is east of Seattle, to have it done. The owner operates out of her home. We also got about an hour of video footage (when the baby's movement is captured, it's considered 4D; when you see still-shots, it's 3D). We got to see her hiccuping and moving around quite a bit. It was really hard for the technician to get clear shots of her face because she was nestled against my uterus and wouldn't budge no matter how hard we tried. Her nose was smushed most of the time but we did manage to get a few nice pictures towards the end. It was an amazing experience to see her moving so clearly on the screen and then feeling it inside me at the same time.

Though we don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet, we do know that Jayden will be a great older brother. He's already been practicing by patting mommy's belly and putting his toys on it (sharing already I guess)!
Pam had some morning sickness the second and third month but is feeling better now. We'll find out the gender of the baby at the next ultrasound, scheduled for July 21. We've already had one ultrasound (at 9 weeks) and got to see the little cutie moving its tiny arms around. We have a picture but my scanner is broken; hopefully I'll be able to post it soon. (By the way, that little picture on the home page is not Fetus Fassett! I had to put some kind of picture on there, right?)
The due date is November 11. Pam will give birth at the Naval Hospital in Oak Harbor again.

Just in time for the tulips, Pam's mom, Elaine (The Mom-Mom), came to town for a week-long spring visit. Jayden woke up every morning to Mom-Mom's smiling face. We all went shopping in Seattle one day and another day we went to the Fidalgo indoor pool and swam. Other than that, we just relaxed and enjoyed the visit. While Pam and Jason were in Portland, Mom-Mom took Jayden for long walks, took him shopping in downtown Anacortes, and took a car trip to Target and the mall. Here are some pictures...
After picking Mom-Mom up from the airport, we stopped at Ivar's in Seattle for some fish and chips. As their slogan goes, "Keep Clam." |
I love to splash... |

We all took a trip to the local indoor pool. |
