(Dec. 20, 2001) Our new son,
Jayden Daniel, was born on Tuesday
morning, Dec. 18th. He weighed 9 lbs., 3 oz. and was 21 inches long.
It all
started on Monday morning when Pam's water broke at home; she was admitted to
the Naval Hospital in Oak Harbor, Wa. around noon. Contractions started around 5
pm and continued into the night. Pam had two intrathecals (spinals) to ease the
pain (the first one wore off before pushing could start). Pushing took about two
hours. Thanks to a mirror both Pam and Jason could witness Jayden actually coming
into the world an inch at at time. It was miraculous.
We arrived home from the hospital on Thursday, Dec. 20. Jason will be home from work for the next two weeks, and we plan to just relax at home and enjoy our son as well as the upcoming holidays!
Incidentally, Charlie Girl was very excited to meet her new brother. We kept a bandana around Jayden while he was in the hospital to pick up his scent, then put the bandana on Charlie when we got home. Read Charlie's comments on meeting Jayden...
Thanks to everyone who has called and emailed their best wishes!!!
(Nov. 20, 2001) Looks like we've been spared another house move, at least for another 2 1/2 years. Jason's next duty station is a two-year "shore tour" as an instructor at the Electronic Attack Weapons School at NAS Whidbey Island. He will only need to travel occasionally with this new job since a shore tour means no deployments.
Jason will continue to fly in the EA-6B Prowler, but not nearly as much as he does in an active squadron. He will be instructing Naval and Air Force aviators on electronic attack integration with other weapons systems including ships, aircraft, satellites, etc.
Jason's current three-year tour with the Gray Wolves of Squadron 142 ends in June 2002; however, since he needs to start Weapons training in April he'll be leaving the squadron and his three-month deployment a month early.
We're both very happy to stay in Anacortes. There are still a lot of places in the Pacific Northwest that we haven't seen yet, and it will be exciting to explore them with our new son over the next few years.
(May 29, 2001) Thanks to a digital camera someone in the squadron owns, Jason has been able to send home lots of pictures of his adventures in the desert so far (Click here for pictures). He also sent pictures from his week-long trip to get to the Middle East. They stopped in Washington D.C., The Azures, and Crete, spending a few days in each place to refuel the Prowlers.
Pam's brother gets engaged(May 2, 2001) Pam's brother, Terry Pezzola, popped the question this past weekend to his girlfriend of three and a half years, Debi Wehrmann, and she said Yes. Well, not at first, according to Terry. She didn't answer right away because she was crying so hard. "I had to remind her of the question," he said. "I knew the answer in my mind, so I thought I had already said it," said Debi. Though they had discussed marriage before, the proposal was still a big surprise to her. No date has been set yet, but the wedding will probably take place sometime in late summer 2002, either in N.J. or Pa. Debi and Terry starting dating in September 1997 when Debi was working as a bartender at The Pines, a bar down the street from Pam's parents' house. One of their first dates was to our cousin Kim Pezzola's wedding and had to be kept secret because The Pines had a strict "no dating the customers" policy. Nevertheless, their romance blossomed (and Debi kept her job). Debi now works as a Sales Associate for RCN in Philadelphia; she's currently looking for a programming/Web design position after getting her certificate at the Chubb Institute. Terry works as an HVAC technician for Fluidics in Philadelphia. Incidentally, the ring is an emerald-cut diamond with diamond baguettes on either
side. It has a white-gold band. |
Pam's brother gets dog, RudyPam's brother, Terry, and his girlfriend, Debi, recently adopted a dog. His original name was Rootbeer, but they decided to call him Rudy instead. Rudy is two years old and half chocolate Labrador, half Weimaraner. He looks black in these photos but Pam's mom says his fur is dark brown in the sunlight. Upon learning the news, Charlie Girl had a few comments on her new cousin. I spoke with her as she took a break from staring out the front window at the neighbor's cats. Read her comments. |
