1998-Current
Jason and I moved to the Seattle area in the summer of 1998. Contrary to what we've always heard about Seattle, it was a beautiful rain-less first summer in the evergreen state, much to our delight. But then November hit, and the rains started. It was the rainiest winter in decades, according to the locals. The mountains got record snowfall (Mt. Baker made a worldwide record) and the city got 90 days of nothing but rain and overcast. We didn't see the sun for three months! Since then our winters have been much better. In January 2000 we moved 75 miles north of Seattle to Anacortes, which is known as the banana belt because it gets more sunshine than the Emerald City of Seattle.
